Start Meditating Today - My first book launch! Yoga with Ved @ NALIS Trinidad & Tobago

In May of 2023 I began writing my first book. At that time I only knew that it was meant to serve as a manual of sorts for my meditation classes. 

I felt intensely motivated to get this book done to serve all of the students who were coming to me that could not commit to in-person meditation classes. 

The material for this book came easily to me, the crystallization of teaching over 500 meditation classes, both in-person and online over the last 8 years. 

I enjoyed writing it immensely, and felt energized through the process. Writing the chapters, working with an editor, choosing the cover art, and then working to get it published - the whole process felt as if it was being carried in Grace. 

On June 8th I was able to officially launch my book at National Library  and Information Services (NALIS) Trinidad.

Explore the Depth of Meditation

This book, Start Meditating Today, shares many of the techniques and concepts that I teach in my meditation classes. If you are just starting off learning meditation it gives a very firm grounding to start exploring and experiencing what meditation has to offer without overwhelming the reader with too much. 

But these are foundational techniques and ideas. That means that even more experienced meditators may find something useful in it. I do share many of my own experiences from meditation and teaching classes that may help you to approach your meditation practice in a new way, allowing you to make leaps in your spiritual progress. 

The content is based on the work of my own master - Sri Vasudeva, who facilitates the transmission in the Kundalini Mahayoga tradition. That means that I do explore many spiritual and mystical ideas of meditation, in addition to the more familiar ideas of yoga postures and breathing exercises. My master was very gracious in writing the introduction to this book, hopefully my first of many more. 

As he rightfully expresses in the introduction - "meditation is journey of many steps." This book gives you a way to begin exploring meditation in deeper way than is currently mainstream.

What can you learn?

My book is divided into three sections. 

Section 1 - Here I share with you many of the basics of meditation. It covers highly practical topics such as how to sit, breathe, how food, sleep, and conversation affects meditation, and some of the internal aspects of meditation: setting an intention, self-observation and inner posture. 

Section 2 - In this section we begin exploring deeper spiritual ideas, particularly about the subtle energy body or spiritual body. Meditation is meant as a tool to open up our awareness of that spiritual side of our being. That is explored in this section including how postures and breathing exercises help you get there. I make special mention of Kundalini, that power that allows us to evolve spiritually, and the power of the Ascended Masters who are guiding us all. 

Section 3 - In the final section I begin sharing a bit more about life as a whole. The goal of meditation is to become more spiritually conscious that we may live better and in greater awareness of our spiritual identity. Apply spirituality and integrating it into our lives, realigning our lives to that inner power, that is the long term goal. Here we explore some of that.

I took the opportunity at my book launch to address who attended and for us to do a guided meditation together. There were two points in particular that were important to me, and I am happy to have the opportunity to share it here as well. 

The first is that meditation has incredible transformative power. While we may feel disempowered with the state of the world, all that is currently happening in our communities and countries, there is something that we can do. 

When we commit to working on ourselves spiritually that has a subtle influence to the wider collective consciousness. So one the best things that we can do to improve our world, is to begin working on ourselves seriously, to advance our spiritual consciousness. 

By practicing meditation, reflection, introspection, committing our wellness and to living with greater compassion, we are affecting the communities that we live in and the wider society in a positive way. There is a positive spiritual influence, vibration and consciousness that is made more accessible to the collective. It becomes easier for everyone to walk that path. 

It is my hope that by reading my book, starting meditation and beginning the process of working on yourself spiritually that you will become the vanguard for positive transformation of our world. 

The second point is that we all have tremendous untapped spiritual power within us. It exists as potential, like the tree, fruits and flowers exists in the seed. Meditation is one of the practices that allows the maturing of that spiritual potential that we can begin living in alignment with it and using our spiritual powers nobly in the world. 

Hopefully my book will provide some guidance that can help you to continue that process of spiritual exploration and progress.
