Last week we spoke about exploring the multidimensional nature of our being. As we cleanse the various layers within us we experience more - we become more conscious. Really it is a revealing of more consciousness because fundamentally we are consciousness beings.
The experience of the different layers of being or the koshas is an experience of energy and energy fields. We can begin to understand that we are consciousness beings that are having an energy experience. Our lives are an exploration and rediscovery of all that we are - consciousness beings experiencing different energy fields.
In this week's class we explore this perspective of our journey through different energy fields and how we are guided in becoming more conscious. It is an investigation into the nature of our being, the evolutionary energy of humankind - Kundalini, and understanding this journey through the energy fields.
We are these beings that are conscious of different experiences, seemingly different layers of life. This is really an experience through different dimensions of energy. It is that we exist through multiple energy fields and we are conscious of an experience in each one. There is an overlapping and interlacing of these energy fields that give us the richness of our life experience.
Our physical experience is also an energy experience. Modern science is showing with increasing evidence that matter is actually condensed energy, and that all matter is arranged in an energy field. So every level of our experience is held in different energy fields.
As we grow in consciousness we experience these energy fields more and more. We become more aware of the different energy fields and we explore our existence in them. But what is the driving force for that growth? Where is the fuel for the expansion and evolution of consciousness coming from?
Kundalini Shakti - The Evolutionary Energy of Humankind
This is where we need to understand what is Kundalini. Deep within our being there is a vast reserve of energy. It is said to be sleeping or dormant. When we have the drive for conscious evolution, to really grow and discover our potential, this sleeping energy comes awake. It is this energy that fuels our expansion of consciousness and allows us to evolve.
That is why the Kundalini is called the evolutionary energy. It is that force that allows us to transform and grow beyond what we understand. It is that force that ultimately leads to absolute freedom of our consciousness being.
This energy is not physical, although it can influence our physical being very powerfully. It is said to reside at a particular location in the subtle energy body (what we have learnt is the pranamaya kosha in a previous lesson). In that subtle energy body we have subtle energy centres. We can think of them like the organs of the subtle energy body. This is what is known as chakras.
The Kundalini resides or slumbers at the root chakra, the location corresponds to the base of the spine, in that perineum area of the physical body.
Experiencing a Spiritual Cleansing Process of Our Multidimensional Being.
The Kundalini guides us through different yogic practices in order to clear our koshas. In fact it is from the Kundalini that all yogic practices arise. By following the guidance of the energy from within we can engage with those practices that are just right for our journey.
This becomes an incredible experience of learning yoga from the origin of yoga, the inner energy. But we must remember that this energy is an incredible force. It is not to be disrespected or trifled with in a frivolous way. In order to work with this process of Maha Yoga we must be guided otherwise the results can be disastrous.
The Ancient Practice of Yoga
This is the practice of Yoga that is beyond the current western ideas. It is the ancient practice of yoga, that has passed down from master to disciple. It is much more than just learning some postures and breathing exercises. It is the transmission and awakening of the inner energy.
In this practice the end goal of yoga is kept clearly in view. The absolute freedom of the human from limited consciousness. This is what is known as moksha, or freedom. It is striving for the highest practices of yoga and being guided in the practices by the supremely intelligent Kundalini.
